This page explains a few things about who we are and how we use other people's music, names and content, so nothing here is a surprise.

Warning Labels

Warning
  • May cause brain damage
  • Parental guidance suggested
  • Contains grunge, metal and hard rock at full volume

Yes, the labels are a joke. The disclaimers under them are not.

May cause brain damage. Side effects of Neon Belly may include involuntary head banging, air guitar, singing every word of a song you swore you forgot, sore necks, hoarse voices, ringing ears, and a sudden urge to burn a CD. None of this has been evaluated by a doctor. We are a band, not a medical provider, and nothing on this Site is medical advice. The volume is the one part we take seriously, so please read the hearing protection section below, and see a doctor about any real health concern.

Parental guidance suggested. Rock from the 1990s and 2000s can include strong language, adult themes, and references to drugs, alcohol and violence. We play the songs as they were written, and we play in bars. Some venues are 21 and over, and each venue decides who is allowed in. Parents and guardians should use their own judgment about what children hear and where they go, and bring hearing protection for them.

By attending a show or watching our videos, you accept that rock and roll is loud, sweaty and occasionally contagious, and that you do so at your own risk, as described in our Terms of Use.

We Are a Cover Band

Neon Belly performs cover songs from the 1990s, 2000s and beyond. We did not write or record those songs. Our performances are our own interpretations of music created by other artists.

No Affiliation or Endorsement

Artist, band, album and song names mentioned on this Site, including in our setlists, flyers and descriptions of our sound, are used only to identify the music we play. They are trademarks or property of their respective owners. Neon Belly is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of those artists, their labels, publishers or representatives, and none of them endorse this Site. No logos or album art from other artists are used on this Site. The site's color themes are original abstract designs inspired by album color palettes, not reproductions of any artwork.

Music Licensing and Live Recordings

In the United States, venues generally obtain public performance licenses (for example from ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and GMR) that cover live music, including cover songs, played at their location. Booking partners are responsible for any licenses their event requires.

We post clips of our live performances to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Those platforms have their own licensing arrangements, and a clip may be muted, restricted, monetized by a rights holder, or removed at their discretion.

Shows and Venues

Show information is provided in good faith and can change. Some venues are 21 and over, and venues set their own cover charges, door times and policies. The venues we name are independent businesses and are not owned by or partnered with Neon Belly beyond hosting our shows.

Loud Music and Hearing Protection

Live rock is loud, and we recommend wearing hearing protection at our shows. Sustained sound at or above 85 decibels (dBA) can permanently damage hearing. For reference, OSHA requires employers to provide hearing protection and a hearing conservation program when workers' average noise exposure reaches 85 dBA over an 8-hour shift, and its legal limit is 90 dBA over 8 hours. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recommends 85 dBA for 8 hours and cuts the safe time in half for every 3 dBA increase, so about 15 minutes at 100 dBA. A loud band in a small room can reach or pass 100 dBA, and our sets run up to three hours.

OSHA's rules apply to workplaces, not audiences, so these numbers are a guide, not a legal standard for our shows. To protect your ears:

  • wear earplugs; foam plugs help, and musician's earplugs keep the music clear while turning the volume down;
  • stay away from speakers and stage monitors, and step outside or to the back for breaks;
  • ringing or muffled hearing after a show is a sign of damage, so give your ears a day of quiet and see a doctor if it persists;
  • take extra care with children and anyone with sensitive hearing.

Quotes, Reviews and Claims

Quotes from venues, fans and others are reproduced as they were written, with the source named, for example a post by The Pond on Instagram. We do not edit them to change their meaning. Attendance and turnout figures on this Site, such as the crowd at our debut show, are the band's own estimates and not official counts.

Photos and Video

Photos and videos on the Site were taken by band members, friends, fans and venues, and are used with permission or by the band. If you took a photo or video and want credit, or you appear in one and want it changed or removed, email neonbellytn@gmail.com and we will take care of it promptly.

Third-Party Content

Embedded and linked content from YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Venmo and others belongs to those services and their users. We are not responsible for it. See our Privacy Policy for how those services may handle your information.

Tips and Merch

Tips are personal gifts to the band members, not charitable donations, and are not tax-deductible. Neon Belly is not a registered charity. Merch prices and availability are estimates until confirmed with you by email.

Sponsorships and Compensation

We do not currently receive payment, free products or other compensation to promote any business or product on this Site. If that changes, we will clearly say so wherever it applies. Paid performances at venues are not sponsorships.
